Heat exchangers

SGEM LLC produces shell-and-tube heat exchangers in various versions.

Shell-and-tube heat exchanger is a technical device, where heat exchange process takes place between two media, which have different temperatures. The shell-and-tube heat exchangers are manufactured according to the customer’s specific requirements. The application of advanced computing and design methods allows SGEM LLC to find optimal solutions, which, in its turn, enables to reduce the overall dimensions and specific quantity of metal of the products, and ultimately reduce the cost, while maintaining high performance of exchanger functioning.

The range of heat exchangers:

  • fixed-tube-sheet exchangers and packaging
  • floating-head heat exchangers
  • double pipe heat exchangers
  • thermosiphon evaporators
  • refrigeration evaporators and condensers
  • kettle-type evaporators
  • vacuum condensers.

Technical specifications

One of the coolants moves through the tubes (tube side) in the shell-and-tube heat exchanger, the other coolant moves in a shell side. In addition, the heat is transferred from more heated coolant to less heated one through the tube surface. The opposite moving direction of coolants, which facilitates more effective heat exchange, is mostly provided.

The main advantage of the shell-and-tube heat exchanger is the high reliability of the structure. It includes heads, which are equipped with tubes. Cylindrical shell is also provided: a tube bundle with a fixed number of sheets. The whole structure is completed with the covers, which are set at the ends. The set includes mountings, which make it possible to place the device in a horizontal plane. When assembling in an alternative plane, the product is completed with special fixings.

To increase heat exchange between the coolants, the tubes covered with special ribs are used, and to decrease it, the body is coated with a heat insulator. To improve accumulating properties of the product, special structures, in which one tube is inside the other one, are used.

Shell-and-tube heat exchangers are made of carbon steels, corrosion-resistant and heat-resistant alloys, and brass. At the same time, the shell material may differ from that of tubes and tube sheets.

SGEM plant is ready to design, select, manufacture, and supply shell-and-tube heat exchangers weighing up to 40 tons and having operating pressure (from vacuum) from 665 Pa to 21 MPa, according to various TRs and GOSTs. Individual equipment components and equipment from customer’s drawings (in case of import substitution) are made on request.
